Mary Poppins Movie Poster

  • Description: The Mary Poppins Movie Poster was for a class project. The object of the project was to create a poster that demonstrates our knowledge of Polish posters and are ability to create one.
  • Design Context: The topic for my polish poster is approved cinema. The movie I chose to feature on my poster is Mary Poppins. The poster is 30”x48” and was printed on a canvas material.
  • Research: For research, I looked at the resources given by the professor and did some online searches. I ended up narrowing my research to looking more at posters by Joanna Gorska and her style.
  • The Idea: For my polish poster I focused more on Joanna Gorska’s poster style. Some of my main elements in the poster are an umbrella, the London skyline, a hat, flowers, and Mary Poppins’ face. The type on the poster is Source Sans Variable Black and Regular.
  • The Thought Process: The thought process for this project started with doing a lot of research, taking notes, drawing sketches, and then creating comp. sketches. When doing that, I came to the conclusion that I wanted Mary Poppins face to be the main focus of my poster. After that, I took my primary sketch into Illustrator and began to build the poster.
